"There exists in the economy and course of nature, an indissoluble union between virtue and happiness; between duty and advantage; between the genuine maxims of an honest and magnanimous policy, and the solid rewards of public prosperity and felicity; since we ought to be no less persuaded that the propitious smiles of Heaven can never be expected on a nation that disregards the eternal rules of order and right, which Heaven itself has ordained." --George Washington, First Inaugural Address, 1789

N.R. Republican Club Members,

Happy New Year! As many of you know, the New Year brings some new faces to the Executive Committee of the North Ridgeville Republican Club, including myself. I am excited to represent the Club as President and look forward to a fun year. As a reminder, the other members of the Executive Committee, each of whom I truly look forward to working with, include George Smith, Vice President, John Prajzner, Treasurer, Melissa Loparo, Recording Secretary, and Dianne Mueller, Corresponding Secretary.

At our first Executive Club meeting us new-bies to the Executive Committee were reminded that the Club is a social organization and is meant to be fun. That being said, we would like to ask each of you to let us know what fun program or activities you would like to see added or returned to the Club.

And, let us know if there are any speakers you are interested in hearing, or topics you are curious to learn more about. Keep in mind that these individuals or topics don’t have to be Republican or politically based. Also let us know if you have any complaints about the meetings that we can address. We are all ears!

With that, I leave you with a wish for a prosperous and healthy new year and a hope that you each feel welcome and at home at our meetings this year. I look forward to seeing you on January 27th at the first meeting of the year!

Allison Manning

Five of the last eight years I have had the pleasure of serving as President of the North Ridgeville Republican Club. It's been a lot of fun and hard work. And I would like to thank all the officers that served with me for being there every time I needed them.

In this new year we have a new President of the Club Allison Manning. She is a breath of fresh air and full of new ideas. We had a executive meeting and Allison and her new team are off to a great start. I know when she asks us to help her out we will all be there for her.

Thank You,
Vince Loparo Sr.

George Washington, comment to General Henry Knox, March 1789
"For myself the delay [in assuming the office of the President] may be compared with a reprieve; for in confidence I assure you, with the world it would obtain little credit that my movements to the chair of Government will be accompanied by feelings not unlike those of a culprit who is going to the place of his execution: so unwilling am I, in the evening of a life nearly consumed in public cares, to quit a peaceful abode for an Ocean of difficulties, without that competency of political skill, abilities and inclination which is necessary to manage the helm."

From the “Athens Messenger” September 07, 1860 (written by a New York Correspondent)
After a pretty thorough investigation I find that there is not a man in this region who says a word against the honesty of Abraham Lincoln. …. He is universally regarded as a plain, unassuming man, possessing strong common sense, wedded to a quickness of perception that detects the right from the wrong, and winnows the chaff from the wheat….”

A RETIREE'S THOUGHT...

My wife asked, "Whatcha doin' today?"
I said, "Nothing."
She said, "You did that yesterday."
I said, "I wasn't finished."
